Phil Davis takes the scenic route to win Dominiak Cues Northeast Tour stop #4

----------------------------------------------

The 70+ degrees with beautiful sunshine on Sunday November 8th in New England kept a lot of players out of the pool room. But the Dominiak Cues Northeast Amateur 10 Ball Tour headed to World Championship Billiards in Manchester, CT with 19 fiesty players showing up to try and capture the title to tour stop #4.

Many tour regulars were in attendence including Eli Shallhorn, Steve Parise, Seth Tenzin, Janet Tycks, Mike Mckeever and Mike Wheeler. We saw many new players for their first tour stop as well, we welcomed Phil Davis, Mike Esposito, Bart Rivezzi, Bob Stickles, Glen Towle and Brian Tiorney. Janet Tycks was the lone female player in the field taking advantage of the free entry for all women. Congrats to Janet on her 13th place finish in a very tough field.

We extended the race to 5 instead of the normal race to 4 because we had the shorter field than normal. After a short player meeting by tour director Kevin Vidal we were off and running at noon. The top half of the winners side brackets saw tour regular Chuck Hill get a bye in the opening round and score wins over Ken DeBroske and Bart Rivezzi, but then ran into red hot Steve Parise for a chance to make it to the hot seat match. In a close match Steve overcame Chuck and sent him to the 1 loss side. The bottom half of the winners side chart saw tour regular Mike Wheeler make his way to the hotseat match to play Steve Parise with wins over David Walsh, Glen Towle and Brandon Charin. This match went to Steve with a few unforced errors by Mike Wheeler opening the door. Steve Parise would now take a seat and wait for his opponent in the 1 race to 5 finals.

On the 1 loss side Phil Davis was mowing them down 1 by 1 after a second round winners side loss to Steve Parise. Phil scored wins over Gene Hunt, Glen Towle, Ken DeBroske, Chuck Hill, Brandon Charin and finally Mike Wheeler to make the finals and a rematch with Steve Parise for the cheese! About 5pm the players were called to the table to lag for the 1 race to 5 final match. Phil Davis remained red hot and took an early lead and never looked back as Steve looked a bit cold from sitting. Congrats to Phil Davis on a fine win with the final score of  5-2 and from the 1 loss side after an early loss.
